👨‍đŸ’ģ Getting Familiar with GDevelop

This is the GDevelop interface, the part of the program where the user (that’s you!) communicates with the computer. Inside we can find many important windows we will need to create a game. Let’s look at some of the main ones.

This area is called the scene. You are the director and setting the stage for your virtual “play”! Your actors are called sprites and everything added to the scene will be called objects.

On the right side you will see the Objects Editor window and it keeps track of all the things you add to the game. Think of it like an index at the back of a book.

On the left side we can find the Properties Editor window. This is where you can look up and change information of any objects in the game. We clicked the green alien sprite in the scene to see its stats in the Properties window. Try changing some of the numbers here to see how it affects the little guy!

This is the toolbar. If you hover (don’t click) over these buttons with your mouse, it will tell you what each one does. We’ve pointed to the ones you will be using the most when starting out.
